Nest Outdoor cam (wired) no status light

Hi-

My Nest cam suddenly quit working, indicator light will not illuminate, conducted a factory reset and removed/readded camera and still will not connect. Any other troubleshooting tips? No other issues with my other nest cams or doorbell (all on same network).

You could plug and unplug the USB connection several times to make sure the problem is not a poor electrical connection, or swap the power cables with another camera if you happen to have another Google Nest Outdoor Camera.

Is the camera itself unaccessible in the Google Nest app? That is, it's not just the status light that's failed.

I've seen a few other posts about the outdoor camera or the IQ camera just dying after a few years. Ours are all 2-3 years old and still working.

Hey there,

LAFOSTER, I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with this. No worries, we'll check this out. Were there changes made with the setup, settings, and/or app of the Nest camera? Are you using the USB cable and adapter that shipped with the camera? Is the Nest Cam Outdoor’s cable securely connected to the power adapter? Try to push and twist the USB connector into place. Then, plug the adapter into a power outlet. Also, are there any kinks or frays in the cable?

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Thanks,

Archie

Hey folks,

I just wanted to follow up to see if you still need our help. Please let us know as we would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks,

Archie

No changes made, we had a brief power outage and all cameras and devices reconnected with the exception of this camera. I deleted from the app and attempted to add the device back and it keeps stating device not found.

Hi LAFOSTER,

Gotcha — thanks for sharing that with us. Could you try connecting your camera to a computer using a USB cable to check if the status light would come up and let us know how it goes?

I appreciate your help here, MplsCustomer and Archie.

Thanks,

JT

Status light comes on! Appears to be a bad power adapter - any thoughts on how to replace?
