Nest battery cam.... Not Nest?? Why doesn't it work with all my other Nest cams???

I just bought two two packs of the nest battery outdoor cam, and install two of them just to find out that they don't work with the nest app! Why do I have to use Google home to watch these two cams then have to switch to the nest app to see the cams at my other house?? Was this written somewhere before I spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on these cameras?

On the Google Store for the Google Nest Battery Camera, there currently is this line that says: "Google Home app required. Learn more." If you click on the "Learn more" link and scroll down to "Tech Specs", and then expand the "App" listing, you will then (and only then) find that it says "not compatible with the Nest app or the home.nest.com site." So, TECHNICALLY, it is written down, but it is not at all apparent.

We purchased our Google Nest Battery Camera the first week of September 2021 because the week before, Google quit selling the Google Nest Outdoor Camera.  I don't know what the Google Store listing said at that time; it wouldn't have occurred to me to look to see whether a new "Nest" camera was incompatible with the "Nest" app. We too were caught by surprise. A "Nest" camera that doesn't work with the "Nest" app and a new "Nest" camera that has less functionality than our older "Nest" cameras. Who would have thought? So now we have to use two apps.

Google Nest has posted its rationale in these blogs in this forum; you'll find hundreds of customer reactions as well:

Hi guys, it is probably worth mentioning that Google has a notoriously bad history of half-baked marketing. Unfortunately, the "Nest" brand has been swept up in that half-baked history.
Google is trying to move Nest to Home, but instead of changing the name from Nest to Home, they kept it as Nest. Yes, this is a dumb idea but I'm sure their crack-head marketing team came up with the idea. Now you understand, and welcome to the club.
