Nest cam with floodlight options

Why can’t I select zones on the floodlight camera?

It seems like the restriction of only viewing this camera through the Google Home app is very limiting. Along with the apparent loss of features with this device, the load time of all my other cameras is very sluggish compared to the Nest app. I am very concerned Google is going to abandon the Nest app and leave me with a inferior software platform.

What are the plans moving forward?

The lack of features compared to a Nest camera certainly is concerning. I haven’t tried to set up zones on my floodlight camera, however the notifications and event history are woefully inferior to my regular (old) Nest cameras. Therefore I’d imagine zones are also inferior.

Hi Brad,

If you could get the programmers to improve the code for the Floodlight camera so it matches the functionality of the three year old Nest indoor cameras that would be great.

As I mentioned in my comment, the floodlight camera doesn’t pick up the same level of activity, for example my cat only sets off the camera when she’s ran 3 meters away from it, also the camera doesn’t pick up the seconds before the motion is detected. Nest cameras do record the seconds before the motion because they’re always recording. The sales blurb for the old Nest cameras explain it better than I do.

Id be happy to provide more details if you need them. My four 3 year old Nest cameras are far more sensitive and useful at recording events then my Floodlight camera.

@Pdalli  I'll put some will and mite into it.. but I'm working on 'remember' I cant remember my programmers training..
