Nest camera not showing green light - charging for 24H

have had the camera for 12 months; just changed the WiFI password.  Have factory reset the camera but cannot connect to it via Google Home - keeps saying it encountered an error after trying to "Connect with joining devices".   The instructions say the light must be green (for fully charged) but after 24 hours of charging the light is still white.  Something's wrong and I have no idea what.  Why don't these things just work?!

Hi there!

I understand how frustrating it can be when technology doesn't work as expected. It sounds like you've tried several things to resolve the issue with your Nest camera.

Let's try a few more steps together.

First, can you confirm that you're using a Nest Cam Battery?

Also, can you confirm to me what's the exact color of the LED light on the camera? Is it solid white, blinking white, or a different color? Remember that Green light means that the camera is still remembering the last WiFi information.

Let's review the steps in order to perform the factory reset on your Nest Cam Battery.

  • Plug the camera to the charging cable.
  • Press and hold the button:
    • At 10 seconds, the status light will blink yellow four times, and you'll hear a countdown tone.
    • At 12 seconds, the status light will be steady, solid yellow while the camera starts the factory reset, and you'll hear a confirmation tone.
  • Release the button.

Once the factory reset is completed correctly the LED light will go off and then back on, after a few seconds it should be a Blue LED light.

Now you can do the setup on your Nest Camera on the Google Home app.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue with your Nest camera's charging and connection.

Regards,

Brandon.

Thanks.  All fixed now. I had not pressed the reset button long enough

I'm glad to hear that the issue is resolved! It can be frustrating when technology doesn't cooperate. I'm here if you need any further assistance.
