Nest cameras won’t show up to connect to my google home app.

Hello guys I’ve recently changed my WiFi network and in order to connect my cameras to a different wifi network I’ve had to remove them from my account and factory reset them. I’m now trying to reconnect them to my google home app by adding a new device but my cameras are not popping up. These are both nest cam outdoors and nest cam with floodlight.

Ive go the exact same issue and unsure what to do- it appears my cameras are not sending a wifi signal to connect to as they do appear as a WIFI option to connect to.

Hi @MTM-aurel

Thanks for reaching out to the Community! I noticed that you were having some issues trying to add your cameras back to your app. I know these issues can be frustrating, but don't worry! Let me help you with that!

Before we continue, I need to know some information, just to provide you with more accurate troubleshooting steps:

  • What is the color of the LED status light?
  • How far is the device from the router?
  • Are you receiving any error messages?

Once you have this information, I would be more than ready to help you!

Best Regards,

Debora

Hello,

The light is a white colour.

When attempting to connect the cameras, I have this charging directly next to the wifi router and phone.

There is no error message, just cannot find and connect the cameras to the network

Hi @WarwickSharp

Thanks for the information provided! I found some steps for you. I understand that you already tried to perform a factory reset but you're getting a white light. To know that the factory reset has been performed correctly, we need to see a blue light on the device, and then we can set it up again.

Let me share the steps with you to do the factory reset and check if we can get a blue light! You can find the type of camera you have and follow the steps!

If you notice, most cameras need to go through the process for 10 or 12 seconds, but this time, please let's do the process for 20 seconds or until you get the blue light. Then you can try to set up your devices again!

Please let me know if those steps work for you! If not, don't worry! I can find more steps for you.

Best Regards,

Debora

Hello Debora

I have tried pushing the factory reset for 20+ seconds and both my cameras are a still showing a slow flashing white light when on charge. The make a start up noise when connecting them to charging cable but that's about it.

When trying to connect them on my Google home app, I am still unable to find the camera device.

Ready to give up unfortunately

Thanks

Warwick
