video download before and after event

Recently I had a need to video unwanted wildlife activity in my back yard.  I am having an issue giving the wildlife folks the total picture of what is going on because they need to see the footage before and after what the camera considers an event.  I have the plus plan and can via Google Home for web see all the before and after action.  Cameras are gen 2, powered 24/7.  I have no issue downloading the event period, but I need the video before and after and have not figured out how to download it.  Even if I have to merge the three components using a video editor, I can do that but first need to be able to download it.

I have seen older posts that imply what I need to do is not possible, but that seems absurd to me since I can easily see what I need and only need to download it.  If it is true that what I need to do is not possible, that seems like a major limitation and would be interested in suggestions for other camera types and/or software.

• When did the event you wish to download happen?
• Have you had a problem like this before?
• Can you see the same events from the Google Home App?

Both the web and the app show 24/7 video coverage, and I can see all the video leading up to the detected EVENT, the EVENT itself, and all the video after the detected EVENT.  It is indeed 24/7 video and requires no EVENT trigger for it to be viewable by me on the web or on the app.  The issue is down loading the video that I can see.  The app, or the web only let you download the EVENT itself, and nothing before or after it.  In my case I have about a 3 minute EVENT and I need to download about 30 seconds before and 30 seconds after the EVENT.  It does not look like I can do that in spite of being able to see it clearly via the web or app. Think of it as needing a few seconds before and after the vertical white EVENT bar.

Thanks so much for sharing this information. It makes it much easier to understand that you want to download 30 seconds before and 30 seconds after your event because you have the Nest Aware subscription with 24/7 recording. Therefore, in this case, it is possible to create and download video clips of up to 5 minutes.

I don't want to create anything, I just want to download an existing EVENT as the camera recorded it and also have the 30 seconds before and after the event. The sum of this will be less than 5 minutes. Again I can see all of what I want,on the web or app, but am not able to download it because the software allows only the camera recognized EVENT to be downloaded, nothing before or after the EVENT.

Hi @justsam,

I understand you'd like to download an existing event along with the 30 seconds before and after it, and you're seeing the full event in the app/web view. However, the current system doesn't allow extending the download time for an evemt directly. To get the video clip you need, including the 30 seconds before and after, you'll need to create and download a new video clip encompassing that timeframe.
