I just installed my Nest wired doorbell and within an hour or two the back part (metal) got really hot. I checked it hours later and it was still hot. Is this normal? Could it be a defective doorbell?

Hi @Ayala-kibo
It is somewhat normal for the doorbell to get warm to the touch. I'll link Google Nest's help page that addresses this below. Of course, use your judgement on this. If you feel it is totally out of the range of normal please reach out to support directly.

Hello!
thank you for following up. I did see his response and determined I will need to contact support directly. Unfortunately I am not at home, so I was waiting to get there in the event I need to troubleshoot. My doorbell is extremely hot so I don’t think it falls under “warm to the touch” category.
