Nest doorbell wired showing battery percentage and draining battery

Sam_W

Hello,

I recently (2 days ago) installed my google nest doorbell battery, but I wired them to a new transfo.

In the google home app I can sometimes see the battery percentage, and sometimes I see the doorbell is plugged in, and I see an infinity symbol. (See below)

I also have a google nest hub, and there I always see a battery percentage, and never the infinity symbol as shown in the app.

I’ve also seen that this percentage is draining over time, and I’m wondering how thats possible, since it’s plugged in?

For this doorbell I bought a transfo that should have been ok for this bell. See transfo below : it is 12VAC, and 15VA. If I have checked the requirements for this doorbell, and this should be OK?

Can someone explain what could be happening here? I would like to keep the bell wired and not always disconnect it to charge it?

Thank you in advance,

Hello Sam_W,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with the Nest Doorbell (battery). Let’s check it out.

A few questions: what country are you located in? Are there any recent power outages or electrical work done in the house? What is the color of the status light on the doorbell? Also, what is the temperature where the doorbell is installed?

Since the issue is intermittent, I’d suggest contacting a Nest Pro to check the wiring and the actual power output of the transformer.

In the US, you can contact our installation partner, OnTech. For all other countries, you can book an appointment with a Nest Pro. You can check out this handy guide for more information about Google Nest professional installation services.

Here’s a guide on how to check Nest doorbell compatibility.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Best,

Lance
