Nest flood light camera not working with routines

I have set up routines in Google home for the Nest floodlight cameras to turn on and off at certain times and they aren’t doing that. I have updated both the Google home app and my iOS system is up to date. Please advise. Thanks!

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response, and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I'm terribly sorry to hear that you're having these troubles. I understand how upsetting this could be, but I'm happy to assist you with this obstacle. As far as I am aware, you can only turn the camera off or on manually, but I am wondering where in the settings you are seeing the option to set up routines to turn the camera on and off?

Best Regards,
Brad

Under the routines, you can create a custom routine and set up a time for the routine to begin and then choose an action. If you choose the "adjust lights, plugs and more" action, it will allow you to set up a "turn on" or "turn off" function for the floodlights. I am not talking about turning the cameras on and off, but the actual floodlights turning on and off that are connected to the cameras. The main issue is that despite setting up the above mentioned routine, it is sporadic at best.

I am terribly sorry I misunderstood your initial inquiry! That makes a lot more sense now. As for it being sporadic, how far away is the floodlight from a strong Wi-Fi source? Sounds like there may be some delays in connection, or just a poor connection from the sound of it. Have you tried to restart your device?

Best regards,

Brad

I don't think it is a WiFi issue. It will work flawlessly for 3 days and then on the 4th the lights won't come on. You can turn them manually on in the app and then they will go back to working for a few days and then stop again. It's almost like a glitch in the app.

I'd recommend restarting your device. This process should keep all your settings, and reconnect it to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever freezes, has connection problems, or isn't working normally.

Best regards,
Brad
