Nest floodlight & camera no battery in app but working?

Dominic

Does anyone else have the same issue with the Nest Cam with floodlight?

i constantly get “no battery” error despite it being wired. Even then the camera seems powered with the green dot appearing when someone is in the area.

Lately only the camera appears in the Google Home app but not the floodlight (which still is working upon movement in the area).

I tried (re-)installing and (re-) setting multiple times, sometimes it works for a few days/weeks then the problem occurs again.

All other devices work fine, so unlikely wifi issue and given the floodlight still works, I also don’t think a wiring issue…

Any help much appreciated - thanks in advance!

Hi @Dominic,

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand your Nest Cam with Floodlight keeps sending you a 'no battery' message even though it's working properly. I also appreciate the information that the camera is on the Google Home app but the floodlight isn't, and the troubleshooting you've already performed. I'm happy to help.

Could you please let me know for how long the Nest Cam with Floodlight has been working properly, or if this issue has been present since installation?

Since you mentioned the floodlight doesn't appear in the Google Home app, the best solution for this is to remove the camera and add it back to the app. To do this, you'll need to follow the steps below:

  1. Remove your Nest Cam with Floodlight from the Google Home app by tapping Devices, then touch the camera to remove > Select Settings > Remove device > Remove.
  2. Factory reset your Nest Cam with Floodlight by following the steps in the article Restart or factory reset Nest camera or doorbell.
  3. Set up your Nest Cam with Floodlight back in the Google Home app as indicated in the article Set up and connect Nest camera.

With the 'no battery' message, you just need to unmount the camera and charge it while it's unmounted. After 5 hours, you can mount the camera back, and the power cable will maintain the battery level. You can do this independently, whether you remove the camera and add it back to the app, or without removing it.

Please keep me posted.

Regards,

Anders
