Nest google login resets after choosing home

  • I have recently gotten a new phone and needed to log into my Nest app. I've migrated my Google home woth Nest before with no issues and have a home already created. When logging in it says I have a home already created. Great, I choose the already made home. I am then prompted to input my home address. After hitting next, I get an error immediately. "There was a problem connecting to the Nest service. Try again in a few minutes." I am on day 3 of figuring out my issue but it seems it seems to be an app issue.

Hi @krom,

Thank you for posting here in the community. I'm sorry that your Nest Account/App is not working as expected. But no need to worry, help is here.

There can be a few reasons why your Nest login resets after choosing your home in the Nest app. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

App and Device Issues:

  1. App Restart: A simple app restart can sometimes resolve temporary glitches. Close the Nest App completely and relaunch it on your phone or tablet.
  2. App Update: Ensure you're running the latest version of the Nest App. Updates often contain bug fixes and performance improvements related to login functionality.
  3. Device Restart: If you're using a phone or tablet, try restarting your device. This can clear up any temporary memory issues that might be causing problems.
  4. Uninstall and Reinstall: If the problem persists, consider uninstalling and reinstalling the Nest App. This will ensure a clean installation and remove any corrupted data that might be causing the login issue.
  5. Account Login: Try logging in to your Google account directly on a web browser to see if there are any issues with your account credentials.

Here are some additional things to keep in mind:

  • Multiple Google Accounts: If you have multiple Google accounts, ensure you're using the correct one linked to your Nest account to log in.
  • Cache Clearing (Android only): For Android devices, you can try clearing the Nest App's cache. This will remove temporary data that might be causing issues. Note: The specific steps for clearing app cache might vary slightly depending on your Android device and operating system version. Consult your device's user manual or search online for specific instructions.
