Nest hello wired doorbell died?

KyleK

Nest hello that I've had since 2020 seems to have died.  No LED come on at all.  I've tried all the troubleshooting tips I can find, even tried to restart and factory reset, neither of which seem to help.  Is there any recourse to fixing it, or is it just a brick at this point?

Have you tried removing it from the door and plugging it into your PC to see if it responds ?

Yes, I disconnected from the doorbell wiring and plugged into two different USB outlets, no response on either one.  Tested the doorbell wiring and it worked, tested the two USB ports and they worked fine, so it doesn't seem likely to be a power issue.

Just to clarify, did you try plugging it into a PC...or just a USB power outlet?  I ask as if the PC reacts then it's possible to recover.. if not then it's likely dead.  Not sure how you would go about repairing if that's the case I'm sorry to say.

Sorry, should have been clearer.  I plugged the doorbell into a PC usb, and neither the doorbell nor the PC reacted to the connection.  I had also tried plugging it into a USC charger port with no reaction from the doorbell.  I tried doing a re-start on both, and neither worked.

Not sure it makes any difference, but the doorbell was very warm to the touch when it was connected to the doorbell wiring.  More warm than I normally expect it to be, especially considering the cool ambient temperatures.

Unfortunately nothing I've tried has worked, looks like my 1st Gen doorbell is dead.  Just renewed my annual subscription a few weeks before it died, anyone know if I can I cancel the sub?
