Nest wired indoor 2nd gen will not add using Setup code

I wanted to add this since I saw several locked conversations about adding a Nest cam without the the QR code

This 2nd gen installs via Home not Nest

for my particular Nest indoor wired 2nd Gen, I was rearranging my Homes. I deleted the camera from the current home, the reset the camera via the little hole near the swivel stem under the camera. Hold button in until camera chimes  . The camera will only install to Home when the light is pulsing blue after reset , if the light is solid blue or any other color ( if that’s a thing) it will not install! This is from my chat with customer care and it installed the first time

Are you saying you were able to install it WITHOUT the QR Code?

Yes. Reset the camera by holding the reset button on the bottom until the camera makes noise and resets itself . The blue light should start pulsing and then go to the Home App and add the device. Worked for me perfectly

I think the blue pulsing light must mean pairing mode to pair to the app….good luck!

Hi JHLASound,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand you need to add your indoor camera to the app without the QR code. I'm here to help!

Please follow these steps:

  • Make sure Location services and Bluetooth are enabled.
  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Tap Devices > Add > Google Nest or partner device.
  • Choose the home where you need to add the camera.
  • The app will try to look for nearby devices. Once asked what device is being set up, select Camera > Nest Cam (wired).
  • Then it will ask to scan the QR code. Select "continue without scanning."
  • Once the camera is recognized, select Continue.
  • A prompt for additional legal terms and usage guidelines will appear. Tap Next.
  • A prompt for privacy guidelines will appear. Tap Next.
  • A prompt to allow the Google Home app to automatically share device stats and crash reports to Google will appear. Tap No thanks or Yes, I'm in.
  • Once you try these steps, the camera should be connected.

Note: If your camera was set up on another account before, you'll need to remove it from that account before setting it up again. To remove follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app .
  2. If you have more than one home, tap Favorites . At the top, select the home you want to edit.
  3. Tap Settings .
  4. Under the home name, tap the profile icons of home members.
  5. Select your profile icon.
  6. At the top right, tap Remove  > Leave home.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,

Manuel
