So have new broadband and tried to re sync the doorbell to the new one, through the home app.
Factory reset the doorbell and it made the sound, but keeps coming up with something went wrong. Any other ideas?

Same here. Factory reset my router and can't get the doorbell connected. None of their troubleshooting tips have helped at all. I get to the point where you plug the doorbell into the computer with a USB-C cable and the white blinking light never turns blue. I get the same "Something Went Wrong" screen you get; no error code. Frustrating as hell as I've spent about 2 hours searching for troubleshooting tips.

Many people have reported this same problem. To fix it I believe that Google has to do something at their end to get it working. Here is how to open and support ticket and be able to speak with someone. don't be shy about asking for a higher level of support if you need to.
