New outdoor camera questions

This new outdoor camera is freaking me out. All my other Nest cameras are wired and no problem.  This new camera with the magnet doesn’t give the same kind of range to move it around and point it more “straight” rather than down. I’ve hired a handyman to make a wedge so that I can point it in direction I want. Am I missing something?  Made it even worse when we added the no theft device.
Also can someone please tell me what’s up with the camera battery?  I have Thai camera plugged into power but my battery power has decreased form 60% (out of box) to 57%. Will battery continue to decrease even tho plugged in?  I don’t understand this.
One more thing is when I open Google app to look at cameras, this new camera (I only have one new outdoor camera that involves battery & wire) displays nothing and says IDLE instead of LIVE even tho turned on.
Can I please get advice on these issues that I don’t understand or can you point me in direction online to read?  I’m lost!

Thanks for any help. Cass

We've had a Google Nest Camera (Battery) since Sept. 2021 plugged in with the optional 10-meter power cable that we also bought. It shows as "Live" all the time. When it is plugged in (virtually all the time), we can't check the battery level; the "Battery" setting says "Plugged in" with an infinity symbol. If we turn off that circuit and check the battery level, it ranges from 80% to 100%.

I agree that the magnet doesn't provide the same range as our older outdoor Google Nest cameras.

Thanks for the tips. I had the camera plugged in incorrectly. Had it turned the wrong way   Now that I have fixed that I see the same things that you do. That should fix my battery percentage issue and the idle issue.  This took some getting used to as the older outdoor camera could be turned every witch way easily.

Hey folks,

@GroovyDreamyFab I'm dropping by to ensure that everything is covered here. I hope that sheds some light on the issue.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Thanks,

Hey folks,

I just wanted to follow up to see if you still need our help. Please let us know as we would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks,

Archie

Thanks all questions have been answered. I had my handyman install my new camera and it is great. He had to place a wedge when installing it so that I could get the view I wanted. My older cameras were great with having more flexibility to point every which way, so I wasn’t too happy about having to do all the extra work with the new camera in order to get the appropriate view.  So far I will stick with this brand since I have so many of them already. Thanks so much for the explanations and answers that I found here.
