New to Nest and frustrated with device

I just purchased a home with a next doorbell (coming from a Eufy home) and am very frustrated - no video playback, no prior day playback and yard camera doesn't actually snap a shot of the person. 

Before changing out the hardware, I wanted to reach out to the community to understand if the subscription is worth it (as I assume that I need to pay for these basic options)?

Without a Nest Aware subscription, you only get snapshots of events that occurred in the most recent 3 hours if you have a 1st gen Google Nest camera or doorbell (those installed in the Google Nest app), and event video history for events that occurred in the most recent 3 hours if you have a 2nd gen Google Nest camera or doorbell (those installed in the Google Home app).
