@Matteo71

Winter temperatures in Minnesota have not affected night vision on our Google Nest Hello Doorbells and our cameras. It was 13 below Fahrenheit last night. I don't know about the 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell.

Hi everyone,

@Matteo71 thanks for reaching out here in the Community and for sharing with us your issue. At temperatures below freezing, the lithium-ion battery in your Google Nest Camera or Doorbell won’t be able to charge. The batteries in Nest Cam (battery) and Nest Doorbell (battery) have the following minimum temperature requirements:

  • Minimum operating temperature: -4°F (-20°C)
  • Minimum charging temperature: 32°F (0°C)

At temperatures between -4°F (-20°C) and 32°F (0°C), the battery can still power your device, but it won’t charge. It may also drain more quickly than usual. At temperatures close to -4°F (-20°C), your battery may have less than half the life that it has in warm weather.

Give these steps a try:

  1. Make sure Night Vision is set to Auto.
  • Home app
    • On the home screen, select your Nest Doorbell.
    • Tap Settings> Tap Video.
    • Under Night Vision, select Always on, Auto, or Off.
  • Nest app
    • On the home screen, select  your Nest Doorbell.
    • Tap Settings>  Night Vision.
    • Toggle the switch to Off, Auto, or Always on.
  1. Check that outdoor lights don’t shine into  your Nest Doorbell lens. In some cases, bright lights can delay or prevent  your Nest Doorbell from switching to Night Vision.
  2. Reset your Night Vision settings or restart  your Nest Doorbell. Which method you’ll use depends on which app you use to set up your Nest Doorbell.

Home app: Go to  your Nest Doorbell settings and turn Night Vision off, then turn it back on.

Nest app: Unplug  your Nest Doorbell, wait 10 seconds then plug it back in. This will restart  your Nest Doorbell and reset the Wi-Fi connection.Hit this link for more information.

Let us know how it goes.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.
