Not happy after giving up my Dropcam/Nest setup for Google Nest Cam/Home App

I've been a Dropcam/Nest app user for many years with 7 Dropcam cameras (On Nest Aware), 3 Nest Yale locks and 2 Google Nest Thermostats. This setup has worked for me using the Nest app and has been very reliable over the years so when I saw that Google was discontinuing their support for the Dropcams I was disappointed but still hopeful that the newer setup would be an upgrade from my current Dropcam/Nest App setup. I got the email that Google would send you a new Google Nest camera to replace your old Dropcam but when I saw that the most you could replace was 2 cameras that left me with having to buy 5 more cameras at retail if I wanted the same coverage between my house and rental. That’s a bummer. I received my 2 Nest Cameras and set them up using the Home App and have been using this setup now for about a month and so far, it has been a disappointment and a downgrade from my previous setup. The Nest Cameras do have better video quality but its not great to the point where I would have replaced my Dropcams for them if I wasn’t forced to do so. The Home App is not as good as the Nest App. When scrolling through the video on the Home app it sometimes jumps causing you to loose your location and I get more buffering when using the app than I did using the Nest App. Also Nest Yale locks didn’t transfer over to the Home App so I have to use the Nest App for the Nest Yale locks and the Home App for the cameras and the Nest thermostats when before everything was in the Nest App. Now I’m in a position where I either have to spend $500 to buy 5 more cameras to use with the Home App which I’m not a fan of or search for a better solution while still paying for Nest Aware subscription. This is frustrating.

What you just described with regard to Nest verses Google Home has been a MAJOR frustration for at least 3+ years for everyone on this forum.  Google has made good progress at moving a lot of the NEST features over to the Google Home app but there are still more to go and also the Google Home app seems to lack the beauty and elegance of the refined Nest app.

I have watched 100's of youtube videos on cameras from other companies and there are many good choices each with their pros and cons.  I am very impressed by the products from EUFY which includes a new HOMEBASE 3 that lets you record 24/7 without a subscription.     However there is one big draw back to almost all of them and this when it comes to viewing the cameras LIVE and RECORDED footage from a computer browser.  Google still is the best at this hands down.  And this is an important feature to me and the only thing that makes me not jump ship.
