Hi Everyone.  For those of you who are lucky enough to be testing the Google Home Preview can you tell me if this new update released today (October 21, 2022) lets you see the recorded history of your Gen 1 cameras?   And does it let you scroll around in the 24/7 footage of the gen 1 cameras?  Or is it still limited to the new cameras released in 2021.

Looking forward to hearing back from folks on this.

Hi there,

The new features coming to the Google Home Preview are only going to work with devices in the Google Home app. Older cams will not apply, as they are in the Nest App. Sorry for the inconvenience, @EmptyNester!

Best regards,

Brad

@Brad

It is a profound disappointment to hear that our older Google Nest cameras and doorbells will NOT be included in the new Google Home app features. On Sept. 29, 2021, Google Nest Vice President and General Manager Rishi Chandra made these commitments:

"...we are committed to bringing the experiences and Nest devices you have come to love in the Nest app into the Home app."

"...we commit to being more transparent with you on where we are taking the camera portfolio."

Thirteen months later, are you telling us that those commitments will NOT be honored, our 8 older Google Nest cameras and doorbells (one a year old and one just 10 months old) will remain excluded, and only our 2 newer cameras will be included?

Information is still quite limited, so this is not set in stone. It is simply the current state in which Google is managing the Home Preview. Thank you for providing your helpful feedback.

Best regards,

Brad

Sadly, I believe I will now have to close the chapter on my Google Nest Cameras and move on to something else.   This is WAY too little too late.  Shame on YOU Google for destroying one of the best home security camera systems out there.    ... just my opinion
