Outdoor battery camera

  • I have an Outdoor Nest (battery) that is for my driveway area. I have set the maximum recording time to 3 minutes but i only get about 10-20 seconds of recording I have a nest aware subscription but i am now disappointed about how little is recorded

1. Check Camera Settings: Ensure your camera's settings are correctly configured. Double-check that the maximum recording time is indeed set to 3 minutes.

2. Adjust Motion Sensitivity: Sometimes, the camera might stop recording if it no longer detects motion. Try increasing the motion sensitivity settings to ensure it continues recording.

3. Update Firmware: Make sure your camera's firmware is up to date. An outdated firmware can sometimes cause performance issues.

4. Power and Wi-Fi Connection: Verify that your camera has a strong Wi-Fi connection and sufficient battery power. Weak signals or low battery can cause interruptions in recording.

5. Reboot the Camera: Try restarting your camera by turning it off and on again or by removing and reinserting the battery.

6. Reconfigure Nest Aware Settings: Sometimes, reconfiguring the Nest Aware settings or reinstalling the Nest app can help resolve recording issues.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be best to contact Google Nest support for further assistance. They can provide more specific troubleshooting tailored to your device and situation.

Google Nest customers have no control over firmware updates.

It is not possible to remove the battery from the Google Nest Battery Camera.

What would be the point of reinstalling the Google Nest app? The Google Nest Battery Camera does not work with the Google Nest app.

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

 

It's pretty weird that you're not able to get your event recordings for 3 minutes, but don't worry; let's see what's going on.

 

I suggest first making sure, through the subscriptions page in the Google Store, that your Nest Aware subscription is applied to the correct home structure in the Google Home app.

 

After making sure that's okay, I also suggest changing the event recording history duration to two minutes by:

 

  • Opening the Google Home app
  • Tapping Devices.
  • Tapping and holding your camera tile > More > Settings.
  • Tapping Video > Maximum event length > choosing around 2 mins.


And then following this article on how to Restart Nest camera or doorbell. Be careful not to factory reset your camera as this will remove it from your account and you won't be able to access your recordings anymore.

 

Let me know if changing these settings will lengthen your event recordings.
