Outdoor nestcam connected to wifi but rarely can I access the feed

My camera is online, and when i test wifi connectivity to the device it is a-ok (45 mbps).

When I click to look at the live feed, it spins and spins and spins and then says 'can't connect, retry'.  so after many retries it sometimes gets me to the live feed.

I've rebooted the camera.  I've moved a mesh access point very close to it (inside the wall right underneath).

to no avail.

Anybody had this issue?  The video and video playback works, and sometimes I can enjoy the live feed - but it's WAY less available as I would have expected.

thanks

Keith

Yep, I have the same issue. Even when I'm connected you the same WiFi, it is very slow. And even sometimes it's too late: the person is already gone 😞

Sometimes to go directly to the best app is better

Hi everyone,

It sounds like you're experiencing intermittent connectivity issues with your Nest Cam even though it shows as connected to WiFi. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Check Network Strength:

  • While you mention good Mbps on a test, ensure the signal strength near the camera is strong and consistent.
  • Consider moving the mesh access point even closer to the camera if possible, or try using a WiFi signal extender specifically designed for outdoor use.

2. Restart Network Devices:

  • Sometimes a simple reboot of your router and mesh access point can resolve temporary glitches. Power them down for 2 minutes and then restart them.

3. Update the Nest App and Camera Firmware:

  • Make sure you're using the latest version of the Google Home app or Nest app on your phone or device.
  • Check for any available firmware updates for your Nest Cam in the app settings.

4. Interference:

  • Other wireless devices can sometimes interfere with WiFi signals. Try turning off other wireless devices near the camera or router to see if it improves connectivity.

Additional Tips:

  • If the issue persists, contact our Google Nest support for further assistance. They might be able to diagnose the problem and suggest more specific solutions.

By trying these steps, you should hopefully be able to improve the reliability of your Nest Cam's live feed.

Best Regards,

Brandon.
