Power adapter for outdoor camera gen 2 with barrel connector for direct connection to camera

Does anyone know why there isn't a power adapter available for the Google Nest Outdoor Wired Gen 2 camera that would allow direct connection of the camera using the barrel adapter thus eliminating the long cable?  The length might be nice in certain instances, but when you mount a camera right next to a power outlet, that 18 feet of cabling is annoying and not necessary.  Seems like such a simple fix to allow customers the option of a long cable or a short connection while maintaining weather resistance in all situations.

Since there is currently no official Google hardware solution for a shorter cable, I strongly advise against attempting to shorten or modify the existing cable yourself. The cable is integral to the camera's weatherproofing and power delivery, and any modification could unintentionally damage the camera or compromise its water resistance, which could potentially affect your warranty.
