I just purchased the Nest Doorbell only to find out that the service is unavailable in Puerto Rico. I have a Ring Doorbell at my house in California but I wanted to switch to Nest in Puerto Rico. I know that the Ring works in P.R. but I wanted to use google. So, can I still connect it without the subscription? Will it work as a basic motion detector and doorbell? It seems useless just to be a doorbell only. I noticed that someone else asked a similar question and the thread was shut down prematurely. It’s a fair question that should be addressed and you can’t see the true demographics of American people living on the island. There are many of us that are affected by this and we would like to hear from google about future plans for development in this market. Hopefully the response will be more impactful than the last discussion. Thank you.

Hello nadinerbnr,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. No worries, it will still work even without a subscription. It will still work as a basic Nest Doorbell with motion detection and alert you when there's an event but it'll only record a screenshot of the events. To confirm, which Nest Doorbell do you have? Let us know your update here.
Best,
Emerson

Hello Emerson,
Thank you for responding. I purchased the 2nd generation, wired and battery versions. I wasn't sure which would be compatible since I haven't had the wiring done yet.
So it works without the subscription but I can't see movement, only detect? How many stills would be provided, only one? How do I view that on my cellphone, if at all possible?

Hi nadinerbnr,
I appreciate your response. You need a transformer that is rated for 16-24 V AC, 10-40 VA to provide enough power to your Nest Doorbell. If you've already installed your doorbell and you see a blinking yellow light on the front, your doorbell isn't receiving enough power. You'll need to install the Google Home app to set up the Nest Doorbell. You can still see the live feed however, it'll only have 3 hours of event history.
Regards,
Emerson
