Purchased home with Nest floodlights/cam and Nest Doorbell

Hello,

I recently purchased a home with the Nest doorbell and four Nest cam with floodlights all hardwired. I was successful in adding the doorbell to my Google Home account. I've tried numerous times to add the Nest cam w/ floodlights but cannot get it to connect to my account. The previous owner says that he removed them from his account. I am sure that they work because I clearly remember seeing a green light on them and the flood light coming on the first week I was there.

Any advise or suggestions.

Did you try a factory reset on your floodlight cameras? (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9252162?hl=en#zippy=%2Cnest-cam-battery-or-nest-cam-wit...)

If you get an error saying that the cameras are already connected to another account, that means the previous owner did not remove it from their Google Home app. Below is a link to Google Nest's moving guide:

Hi folks,

Checking in — have you tried the suggested steps provided by MplsCustomer? If so, how did it go? Let me know if you need more help.

I appreciate the help here, MplsCustomer.

Thanks,

JT

Thank you, I did try all of the suggestions and the camera still won’t connect. I even completely removed it from the house by disconnecting all the hard wires. I keep getting the “preparing to connect” message which last for about a minute. Then I get the “connecting to a joining device” message. And then the “Something went wrong” “please try again” message.

Ah, the infamous "connecting to an assisting device" / "connecting to a joining device" that has plagued Google Nest users for over a year. The install process is trying to connect to one of your existing Google Nest devices in order to obtain the Wi-Fi credentials. If your Nest doorbell is the wired Google Nest Hello Doorbell, you could try turning off the circuit for the doorbell during the install process, in the hope that the install process will then let you manually select your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and enter your Wi-Fi password.

Hey there,

I want to make sure you're all good — did those steps work?

Thanks for the help, MplsCustomer.

Regards,
JT
