Saving Nest Cam with Floodlight video

randomtom83

I am attempting to make a video for the police of a break-in of my car. Because the google home app only allows you to save video of "events" it captures when the person went into my car and out. but not during their time in my car. The Nest app allows custom time ranges for videos, whereas the google home app does not.  With the doorbell camera I can capture the persons when they are "outside the frame" (walking down the street, going from driveway to driveway/car to car, then onto my property and leaving). The google home app does not do so. This should be addressed.

I completely agree. It is ridiculous this isn't a feature at launch. Extremely disappointing google has yet to address this in any meaningful way

Brad, today. Just but 20 minutes ago, 2 men walked into my driveway, where i have a zone set up. The light did not turn on, the two men attempted to get into my and my wife's car. The light did not turn on, luckily my dog was going out for his evening constitutional. They ran to the top of my driveway, pauses to have a drive and smoke a cigarette, make out then leave. Only when they decided to leave did the camera and light notice them. The Nest floodlight camera is now downgraded to an official piece of **bleep** Brad. I now have 5 cameras by nest on my house not worth a **bleep**.  Might i add, as they left the camera decided to have issue with the stream. Why does it not have an internal backup to cover connection outages?

I am terribly sorry to hear that you had this experience! These cameras are not perfect, and I understand you would like a better answer but I would personally suggest that you look into a security system if you are having frequent trouble.

Best regards,

Brad.

I don't expect your cameras to be a security system but i would hope that they wouldn't perform worse than your previous models

Allow me to try again. If the clip baking could be custom, as it is in the nest app. So when the police and insurance companies ask for it, i can send it to them, or i want to catch something funny like my dog tripping over something because he's not paying attention, i would like to do that. But just clips of what the camera thinks it's an event.
