Sending door bell notifications to a specific display device

Good morning everyone,

Hopefully I'm posting in the right forum and if not please can a kind soul point me in the right direction?

I have just setup 2 Google Nest doorbells for a client of mine. Everything was pretty straightforward to setup and on the surface the system works as expected with no real hiccups.

My question is sending the doorbell notification to a specific device that my client has. They would like any doorbell ring to be display on their Google Nest Hub which is currently serving as a photo frame. I've tested the voice command to stream or view the video feed from the actual doorbells and that works okay. But my clients thought it was possible to set the system up to have a notification from the doorbells to also come up on Google Nest too along with the notifications on their phones and iPads.

Is this possible to setup? I've had a really good rummage around in the settings on the app(s) and couldn't see an option to do this. I can see that I can control where I stream audio etc to any of their local devices but not the doorbell streams/notifications.

Many thanks in advance

Steve

Hi TEC,  Yes, they have made it confusing to setup. At the moment you can set it so that when someone actually pushes the button on the door bell that it notifies the Google Hubs and activates the camera for viewing on the hub.  However, just a simple notification when someone walks by can only notify the phone (thru the Google Home app).  The "walk by" notification will not show up on the hubs.

To set up the hubs to show the doorbell button is pushed you do it from the Google Home app on your phone (not on the hub).  Launch the Google Home app and go to the top level where you can see all your devices.  Select the doorbell. Then select the gear in the upper right corner.   Scroll down to  VOICE NOTIFICATIONS and select it.  Now turn ON the button for Voice Notifications.  Go hit the doorbell and you should hear a notification on the hub as well as see who is at the door.

Let me know if this works.

Thanks for the reply EmptyNester,

When on the Google Home app I can see all their devices which include a couple of speakers in 2 different groups and rooms along with the Nest Hub. But for all my poking around I couldn't find either of the doorbells on that screen display listed with the other pieces of equipment. They are both working well in the (Google) Nest app where you can see the feeds from the cameras etc and interact with their settings.

So I need to go back and have another look and see how to add the doorbells to the Google Home app and once on there I will follow your guide.

Many thanks for your help

Hmmm,   Ok, so I think you just need to add the doorbells to the Google Home app.  Open up the at and get to the main page.  In the upper left corner hit the "+" sign and then SET UP DEVICE.    Then select NEW DEVICES and then select your home.  The app should now do a search for new devices and it should (fingers crossed) see the doorbells and let you add them to the Google Home app.  Assuming it adds them you should now be able to follow the directions in the previous email.

Many thanks and will pop over later today and have another fiddle within the settings. I will let you know how I get on and finger crossed you have sorted it out for me.

Many thanks
