Setting up Nest Cam Outdoor, can't set up Nest Network

Hi,

I am having a very frustrating time setting up two outdoor nest cameras. On Google home, I try to add the device and when I get to the part 'do you have any other of the following nest devices set up in this home' and I click no because the camera is the first device in that home, I get 'something went wrong. Please try again'.

I have been in contact with Google Support and they are stumped, I've been onto my ISP to change settings recommended by Google. I've tried using different phones and a tablet to set a camera up. I've tried different networks. I've also tried the Nest app and it doesn't let me complete setup either. I've tried resetting the cameras many times.

So hopefully a member of this community might be able to recommend something that I have overlooked.

@emmcre

Which camera are you trying to set up, the newer Google Nest Camera (Battery) in the Google Home app or the older Google Nest Outdoor Camera in the Google Nest app? Are you by any chance reinstalling these cameras in a "home" that is currently empty, but previously had cameras or other Google Nest devices installed? If so, maybe Google Nest "remembers" that previous "home" and you could try answering "Yes" to see what happens.

Thanks for your reply.

I am setting up the newer Google nest camera (battery) in the Google Home app.

No, there have been no other devices set up at this home before. I set up the home to add these cameras to. I've tried answering yes to see what happens and it just says the person who previously set up devices should migrate there account and to send them instructions. So, it doesn't apply and doesn't let me proceed.

Now, I am going to try a previous version of the Home app and see if that works. And if that fails, try with an iPhone.

I got it working. The previous versions of the home app on Android did not work either. So I used an iOs phone and they were added no problem.

There seems to be a bug with the android app. I've let the support team know so hopefully it is rectified in the next update.

Anyways, thanks for your help
