Syncing nest doorbell with Google home app

Hkendall228

I have nest cameras and speakers all over my home and just added a nest ring doorbell. I had to set it up through the nest app and now it won’t let me add it to my Google home app. Every time I try and sign in it tells my my login information is incorrect. When I setup the nest I signed in with my gmail (the pop up that asks you if that’s how you want to log in or not) but now when I try to sync it won’t let me.

If you had to install it using the Google Nest app, I am guessing your "nest ring doorbell" is a Google Nest Hello Doorbell because that doorbell can only be installed using the Google Nest app, and I am guessing you do NOT have the newly released 2nd gen Google Nest Doorbell (Wired) indicated in your post, which can ONLY be installed using the Google Home app.

If you installed a Google Nest Hello Doorbell using the Google Nest app, you CANNOT separately "add" it to the Google Home app. Rather, if you are logging onto the Google Nest app and the Google Home app with the same Google (gmail) account and you are accessing the same Google Nest "home/structure" in both apps and are on the same Wi-Fi network, then the Google Nest Hello Doorbell will AUTOMATICALLY appear in the Google Home app. In the Google Home app, you can view the live video feed for the Google Nest Hello Doorbell and you can view past recorded events (if you have a Nest Aware subscription), but full history, configuration, and notifications are still handled by the Google Nest app. It's all part of Google Nest's 2-app solution for Google Nest devices.  (We have 3 Google Nest Hello Doorbells.)

Correct it is the Google nest hello camera. But when I open my Google home app, it doesn’t automatically appear and I am on the same Wi-Fi network with the same gmail login. Which is why I was confused that it wasn’t working.

And that’s why I thought I needed to add it to my account (hitting the plus button in the top left corner) but maybe that’s not the case?

No, it is supposed to happen automatically.  Are you accessing the same Google Nest "home/structure" in each app?  (The name of your "home/structure" displays near the top of the initial screen in both apps.)

If that doesn't explain it, note that there have been other posts in this forum where the Nest Learning Thermostat, which is also installed in the Google Nest app, is not showing up automatically in the Google Home app.  You could try signing out of the Google Nest app and signing back on to see if that triggers a sync between the two apps and makes your doorbell appear in the Google Home app.  If that doesn't work, another customer with a thermostat that wouldn't appear in the Google Home app created a temporary "home" in the Google Nest app, with nothing in it.  They then went to the Google Home app, found that temporary empty "home" they had just created, and deleted it.  This somehow caused their thermostat to appear in their original "home".  It's as if that process triggered a sync.
