Am I getting this right? When someone rings the doorbell, it will not announce on your phone and it won't immediately give you a video from the doorbell camera? What is a doorbell for? I can't believe that a company like Google would make such a useless product. Please tell me that I am missing something.

It will announce and stream video (and allow two way audio) on video type Google assistant devices (like the Google Hub), but yes I don't think it's possible to have it do same on a phone. It will send notifications to your phone, with a video snapshot. I can't recall if you can click on the link/photo provide and get right to a live stream. I don't think I've ever tried that, as generally I just depend on the Google hub to see who's there.

This product will be returned. I will get another company's product. What a disappointment.

I’m using the Nest app on an iPhone and my doorbell does exactly what you described. When the doorbell button is pushed, I get a video view on my iPhone that basically takes over the entire screen showing me the front door with some commands to ignore it or reply via those pre-recorded messages.

This question was about the Nest Doorbell (Battery), which does not use the Nest App. It uses the Google Home ecosystem.
