Time sensitive: Google battery doorbell/iphone/notifications

Hi there

I just bought the Google Battery doorbell.

Having trouble with the notifications. I've listed the issues below.

  • When the doorbell is pressed, I receive a pop-up notification.
  • There is a lag when I press the notification and trouble connecting.
  • By the time I connect, often the person is no longer at the door.
  • I was told when I purchased the doorbell, that I could link my Sonos system to the doorbell to chime when someone is at the door, which I have not been able to do.
  • The camera is misidentifying people and objects

I spoke with Google Support and was told that I can ONLY receive a notification should someone be at the door. My hope was, like the Arlo Doorbell, should someone be at the door, my phone would ring and once I answered the call, could have a conversation with whoever is at the door.

I'm hoping that this is incorrect information and you will be able to pass along step-by-step instructions on how to address the issues outlined above.

Thanks

Hello SS8,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To confirm, how far is your Nest Doorbell from your Wifi router? You need to turn on the Visitor announcements from your Google Home app to connect it to your Arlo speaker. The Talk and Listen feature of your Nest Doorbell battery works like a video call. You can speak through your Nest Camera and receive audio from it at the same time.

Give these steps a try:

Home App

  1. Open your Google Home app.
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap the microphone  Talk icon. If your Nest Camera is off, tap Turn on.
  4. Your Nest Camera will chime on the other end. This lets the person in front of your Nest Camera know you're about to say something. Now you can start conversing.
  5. To hang up,  tap the microphone Talk icon. Your Nest Camera will chime a second time on the other end, letting the other person know the conversation has concluded.

Best,
Emerson
