Using nest floodlight camera with hub mini

When asking google nest mini hub to switch on the floodlight, the screen gives brightness options and light controls. Light effects appear under the light controls option including wake and sleep. What do these do? I’ve tried sliding the timers and hitting the start button but nothing seems to happen either instantly or after the time set!
