I have a wired Google Nest Hello and have visitor announcements functioning as expected on my Nest Hub Max. I was trying to set it up on my smart TV connected to Chromecast Ultra. On searching the documentation, the advise was to go to Google home, click on the door bell icon to proceed further. Although I have the Nest hello showing up as under my home devices, i don't have a 'door bell' icon. WhenI go to Nest Hello settings through Google Home or through Nest App, it shows visitor announcement is enabled. I can't figure out how to add a Chromecast connected smart TV display to enable visitor announcement. This display (connected to Chromecast ultra) does show up in the Google Home app. I'd be grateful to have the community's advice on this.

it is a feature that does not work. i had the same issue and contacted google today. they said any nest cams only work with smart hub displays (even tho it is advertised right on the box that it works with chromecast). i'm so frustrated and will likely never buy another google product. such false advertising is a bad look, google.

please keep us updated with what you find out. I'm outside of the return window (got around the holidays and just installed within the last week to find out about all of these issues).
thanks!

Their claim is misleading. I was being taken around in circles between Google Nest Support, Chromecast support and (!) Nest speaker support - none of them had no clue (acknowledged) about this. That being said, how can google expect the customer to understand what they actually mean by what’s on the product documentation? Please see the screenshot link.

Hi folks,
Sorry for the late response. When someone rings your doorbell, your Nest Display or Speaker will announce who's at the front door. Now, if you would like to see on your TV who's at the front door, you can use the commands listed below:
"Show [camera name]"
"What’s on [camera name]?"
"[Camera name] on [Chromecast device name]"
"Play [camera name] on [Chromecast device name]"
"Show [camera name] on [Chromecast device name]"
You can learn more here.
I hope this clarifies your concerns.
Thanks,
Jennifer

Thanks, Jennifer.
I am aware of this feature and had been using this occasionally. However, I still maintain that Google's claim is extremely misleading and shrewdly worded so that a normal consumer who reads this, will be easily mislead to think that the visitor announcements (and not viewing video on command) are available on other devices listed within the same sentence.
"Google Nest or Home speakers and displays can announce when someone rings your Google Nest doorbell, or other compatible doorbell. With a smart display, Chromecast or Android TV, you may also be able to see who’s there."
It's always easier if you have the announcements pop up on the chrome cast enabled display, otherwise it cannot be called visitor announcement. The visitor announcement on smart display pops up only after a few seconds from the bell push. Then, the user will have to switch on the TV, select chromecast input, then a command for google assistant to show camera and a few seconds later, it will normally display the front door with no visitor (as for all practical purpose, a visitor, most commonly delivery personnel might have left the item at the door and left).
That's how practical this solution by Google is. It's plain cheating and mis-selling. Google certainly knows not all their consumers are English grammar experts or legal experts.

Apologies if this shows up as a double post. Same question was posted in Nest Hello Door bell forum as well.

Hi suhailiqbal,
Thanks for reaching out. Please make sure the Chromecast, Nest Display and Nest Hello are set up in the same home in the Google Home app and visitor announcement is enabled.
If someone rings your doorbell, your Nest Display or Speaker will then announce who's at the front door. Now, if you would like to see on your TV who's at the front door, you can use the commands listed below:
"Show [camera name]"
"What’s on [camera name]?"
"[Camera name] on [Chromecast device name]"
"Play [camera name] on [Chromecast device name]"
"Show [camera name] on [Chromecast device name]"

Seems like you have removed a few vital messages in the thread, which you said you took as feedback. So much for transparency. Unfortunately, no option to Kudos Google Nest!!

Hi suhailiqbal,
Sorry for the confusion. It looks like you've posted twice. I took this as feedback on the other thread since that's where I've received a response. I'll duplicate this one to the other thread you've created.
Thanks,
Jennifer
