Want to back to Nest app

I had migrated my Nest cam to Google Home about 6 months ago and I was able to see the camera on both the Nest app and the Google Home app. Recently, there had been a prompt to migrate my camera to Google Home so I did that and now I can no longer see the live feed from the Nest app. It only shows up in the Google Home app. I've deleted the camera on GH and factory reset it. When I try to reinstall the camera on the Nest app, it says it's already been migrated to my google home app and to continue the set up in that app. Is there a way to delete the migration info on the google home app as if it never had migrated in the first place so I can just view it on the Nest App?

Thanks!

This is the right way.   Thank you, MplsCustomer.

I deleted the doorbell cam (2nd gen wired) from the Google Home app.  Then re-added it to Google Home and it worked as it had post-migration.  I initiated the transfer.   Once that completed after 30mins or so, I found that I could not see the added camera on the Nest app and I also could not turn it on via the Home app.  Fearing I had bricked it, I deleted it again.  As your post suggested, this time I attempted to add it via the Nest app and it worked and it was fantastic.  My NestAware Plus subscription remained.

Notes:

1. Some google results suggest you can use the serial number (from the app) to re-add the device.  This is not correct.  You need either the QR code or a 6-digit alphanumeric setup code that appears below the QR code- on the back of the doorbell cam.  Before deleting, make sure you have all this info before a Home app experience is better than a camera that doesnt work at all.

2.  After re-adding, the settings option to remove the device might lag.  Unclear if it did but I did have trouble finding it listed again.

We are NOT using the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app, and have NOT transferred any of our 1st gen cameras from the Google Nest app to the "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app, but you are supposed to be able to transfer them BACK to the Google Nest app, as described here:

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/13038234#zippy=%2Cgo-back-to-the-nest-app

However, in your case I suspect you may FIRST need to reinstall your 1st gen camera in the "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app since you already "transferred" it there, and THEN use the instructions in the above link to transfer it BACK to the Google Nest app.

(We are NOT using the "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app because of the quirks reported in this forum, and because of the numerous Nest app features that are STILL not available in the Google Home app.)

Hello @jessential,

Thank you for sharing your solution! It's great to hear that re-adding the Nest Doorbell through the Nest app resolved the issue. I appreciate your effort.

For others facing similar problems, remember:

  1. QR Code or Setup Code: Ensure you have the QR code or 6-digit setup code before deleting the doorbell.
  2. Re-adding through the Nest App: Adding the doorbell back through the Nest app is often effective.
  3. Settings Delay: Be patient with the settings option, as it might take time to appear after re-adding the device.

If you encounter similar issues in the future, remember these steps. I'm glad you were able to resolve the problem.

Regards,
Jorge
