Wired doorbell setup fails at serial number

Spendo

I can’t complete the setup of my doorbell as it stalls on the serial number step. I have tried the nest app, I have tried the Google home app. Nothing seems to work. I’ve created new “homes” I’ve used existing homes.  I don’t know what else to try. Literally, I’ve been trying to get this POS doorbell to work for 1 year. Never worked yet. My nest cameras and thermostats work. But what the what. Somebody please help.

The most common reason I've seen in this forum for an install failing at the serial number stage is trying to install the device in the wrong app.

The Google Nest Hello Doorbell gets installed in the Google Nest app.

The Google Nest Doorbell (Battery) and 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell get installed in the Google Home app.

I've also see one post where the install was failing at the serial number stage when an iPhone was used for the install, but succeeded when an iPad was used. I have no idea why.

Hi folks,

I’m sorry to hear that and for the delayed response here. Let’s see what’s going on — a few questions: what’s the status light of the doorbell? How far is the doorbell from the router? What Wi-Fi frequency band do you try to connect to (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz)? Were there any changes to your Wi-Fi network? Also, how far have you gotten in pairing your doorbell?

I appreciate your help, MplsCustomer.

Thanks,

JT
