Wireless doorbell rings when no one is there.

Our doorbell has recently started ringing when no one is around, it's usually at night and I believe I've noticed that it happens more when it's windy.  We've had it installed for a couple of years with no issues.

Any advice appreciated, the only support I've found is for voltage issues on wired doorbells.

Hi SiMickle,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I understand you're experiencing trouble with your Nest Doorbell (battery) that rings when nobody is around, mostly at night and when it's windy. I'm glad to help you.

To further assist, please answer the following questions:

  • When did the situation start?
  • What type of chime do you have, mechanical or electronic?

  • When the Nest Doorbell (battery) rings, is the sound inside or with a speaker?

  • What troubleshooting steps have you taken so far?

In the meantime, please follow these recommendations:

  • Restart your Nest Doorbell (battery); here are the steps:

  1. Locate the reset button at the back of the doorbell.

  2. With a pin, press and hold the button for 5 seconds.

  3. The doorbell should restart, and the status light becomes a steady, solid white.

  • Check doorbell chime settings; here are the steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.

  2. Tap and hold your device's tile.

  3. Tap Settings Doorbell. Check if the Ring indoor chime is set to On.

  4. Tap More Quiet Time, then tap Cancel if it's active.

Please let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Byron
