Wiring Doorbell (battery) vs wired gen 2

Avil

I read that the battery version of the doorbell can be hardwired to automatically recharge that battery. If I plan to hardwire, is there any advantage to the doorbell (wired) over wiring the doorbell (battery)? The reason I ask is because only the battery version is on sale now.

Here's my perspective as the current owner of three Google Nest Hello Doorbells in Minnesota, USA.

1) If you live in a colder climate like we do, be aware that the battery on the battery doorbell cannot charge at temperatures below freezing, and the battery is only trickle-charged when the doorbell is wired (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/11830989?hl=en).

2) Since the battery doorbell always runs off of the battery even when wired (see above link), it can only record detected events and cannot record 24/7.

3) There are lots of customer reports in this forum about the battery doorbell being late to detect and record events because it is in "Idle" mode most of the time.

For these reasons, we bought another Google Nest Hello Doorbell and wired it with an OhmKat Power Adapter for the Nest Hello when we decided to add a doorbell to our third, unwired entrance.

On the other hand, the 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell is new, and doesn't have a track record yet.

Good info, MplsCustomer.  Is it assumed that the 2nd gen wired Nest Doorbell will be able to be powered by a power adapter like the OhmKat, or is this exclusive to the "1st gen" wired Nest Doorbell?  I couldn't find any clarification on this matter.

@FiveLakes

OhmKat's website still says its adapter is for the Google Nest Hello Doorbell. I have no idea whether it will also work with the 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell.

Google Nest itself sells the "Ninety7 Indoor Power Adapter for Google Nest Doorbell": https://store.google.com/us/product/ninety7_indoor_power_adapter_nest_hello?hl=en-US, and the web page says it's compatible with "Google Nest Doorbell (battery)" and "Google Nest Doorbell (wired)". I think the latter means the new 2nd gen Google Nest Doorbell because elsewhere they now call the 2nd gen doorbell the "Nest Doorbell (wired)", but it's not crystal-clear.

@MplsCustomer

Aha, I wasn't aware of the Google-specific charger option.  That does seem fairly convincing - I might take the plunge and see if that's the case.  Thanks for your input!
