If you do NOT have a Nest Aware subscription, then with the Google Nest Hello Doorbell in the Google Nest app, you will get photo snapshots of activity that occurred the most recent 3 hours:

You can, however, view the camera on the doorbell live whenever you wish.

It barely works with many features missing that you need to have a successful experience.    You are better off looking at cameras from Eufy or Reolink and many others.  Youtube reviews will help you a lot.
