Hi Fish923.  I was able to turn this feature ON using the  Google Home app.

#1 Go to the home page in the Google Home app where you see all your devices.

#2 scroll down until  you see your doorbell cam and select it

#3 click on the GEAR icon in the upper right corner

#3 Select DOORBELL  and make sure the VISITOR ANNOUNCEMENTS it turned ON.

Hopefully that will get you going.

This only works when someone actually pushes the doorbell button.  It does not work if someone approaches the doorbell.  Many people have requested this but it does not exist yet.

No that is not a solution. As I mentioned earlier I have 2 separate mini devices, and one of them works - so it is not the doorbell settings. I keep waiting for someone to tell me that the old(2020 version) google mini will not announce doorbell presses - but I have not received that message. So, I assume it should work - but doesn't. After dealing with Amazon and their mini - I am beginning to realize the drawbacks of all of this leading edge technology is that there is no plan in place to support it and answer users questions. ZERO support is the correct statement.very frustrating in this day and age. But, thanks for your opinion.

Thank you for your help. I found that the new doorbell mini did work with a brand new Google nest mini that I ordered at the same time as the doorbell battery - BUT it does not work with the existing google mini that I already had. Is it not compatible with the 1 year old google mini that I had previous to this?

Thanks again for your assistance.

p.s. if I wanted badges, I would ask for them - instead of the help I need in this thread. Nuff said about the lack of support. Period. That sound you hear is my garbage can opening. Google mini - join alexa in the dump heap

Hi Fish923,  Glad you got it sorted out.  At least now you know the old gen isn't supported.  I have to say that I think Google is the worst case scenario when it comes to lack of compatibility within their own product line.

And yes, I agree with you on the badges.  What the heck is that about.  Do they think we are children?
