iPhone error message - 'Update your browser'

jriccardi
Community Member

Using the original Nest cams (5) and the original Nest app, when I pick on a notificatrion I have to sign in with my Google account (this is a crap design), then I have to choose an account (I have more than 1  Google account so more crap), and then I get the  'Update your browser' error and no window opens!!!  This is my iPhone 13 and it is always up to date!
I don't get this error if I use the Google Home app to open a notification view.
What is the fix???

No help, none of the browser suggestions helped; the default always was  Safari so I changed it to Chrome and same error message!
PS.  I don't understand this community post as every time I post an issue all responses are closed out within hours; Reply pick is unpickable!!!
Any ways the problem in my original post is still an issue!!!

Hi everyone,

@jriccardi, thanks for reaching out here in the Community. We heard you and we wanted to help you out. Try reinstalling your Safari, Chrome web browser and Nest app and sign in again. Also, I just wanted to confirm, did you try signing in to the web https://goo.gle/2qjvVSU using your desktop computer with your web browser?

Looking forward to your response.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Regards,

Emerson

Hello jriccardi,

Thanks for getting back to us. To confirm, have you tried using a different mobile phone to see if the same issue persists? Could you try checking if you're signed in to your other devices like iPad or desktop computer? Try reinstalling your web browsers to those devices and kindly sign out and restart your mobile phone.

Best,

Emerson

Nobody seems to read my posts/replies as I have already documented that I have tried all suggestions and still an issue, and I have stated it is not an issue on my laptop or my iPad, JUST MY IPHONE!!!

NOOOOOOOOOO, I have already stated I have changed browsers, Chrome/Safari, and still an issue!

The problem only exists on my iPhone, my iPad does not have this problem...

Hey jriccardi,

I appreciate your response. To further isolate this issue, please provide the following information:

  • What is your web browser's version?
  • What is your iOS version? (In case there's an update, kindly update it and check if the issue persists.)
  • What is your Nest app version?
  • Which web browser is popping up when you get the error message?
  • What is your router?

Let us know your update here.

Thanks,

Emerson

Regarding...

  • What is your web browser's version?
    • Tell me how to get this info for Chrome on the iPhone and iPad?
  • What is your iOS version? (In case there's an update, kindly update it and check if the issue persists.)
    • IOS 16.7
  • What is your Nest app version?
    • 5.72.0
  • Which web browser is popping up when you get the error message?
    • I tried with Chrome and Safari, both same problem on iPhone; as already stated, not a problem on iPad!
  • What is your router?
    • There is no router involved as problem exists using cell phone line connection!

Hey there,

Oops — my bad! I'm sorry you had to go through this. I'd like to confirm if you've tried updating your browser on your phone. To check the browser version of your Chrome.

1. Select the three dots on the upper right of your Chrome browser
2. Select settings and click on About Chrome

For Safari browser version:

1. In the Safari Menu at the top of the screen, click on About Safari.
2. A window will pop up showing your Safari version.

I look forward to your response.

Regards,
Edmond

Hi jriccardi,

Thanks for the update. To make sure we're on the same page, I'd like to know if you're using your Chrome web browser from your iPhone? In case you do, after you hit Settings from the three dots on the upper right, you'll see “About Chrome” at the very bottom. For the Safari web browser, you may go to the Settings of your iPhone> General> iPhone Storage> Safari> you'll see here the software version. Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Emerson

Regarding...

To check the browser version of your Chrome.

1. Select the three dots on the upper right of your Chrome browser

OK...
2. Select settings and click on About Chrome

There is NO 'About Chrome' pick...

For Safari browser version:

1. In the Safari Menu at the top of the screen, click on About Safari.

There is NO 'About Safari' pick...  only "You must log in to Facebook 1st"???

2. A window will pop up showing your Safari version.

Hi jriccardi,

That is not what we want you to feel. Try updating your iOS version to  17.0.3 and check its behaviour. We'll wait for your update here.

Emerson

The only available update for my iPhone 13 is iOS 16.7.1 and after that update the problem still exists.  I'll be glad to update to iOS 17.X if you will explain how to force it...
