mac users beware Nest no longer works with mac products, needs a windows platform to set up.   I have 4 cameras and set them all up on my mac years ago, lost power and now they are useless to me.

We have Google Nest cameras and doorbells and are able to access them on the home.nest.com website (for 1st gen cameras) and on the home.google.com website on our iMac. But for installation, we've used either the Google Nest app or Google Home app (as appropriate) on our iPhones or iPad.

This is Google Nest's Help topic on installing older cameras on a computer:

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9227532

A Google Nest Support Specialist on this thread says you can't use the USB setup on MacOS 10.15 (Catalina?) or higher. (We're on 14.1.1.)

Hi all,

@jacobpissoff, thanks for reaching out to the Community. I’d like to check if you still need help with the Nest cameras. Have you seen MplsCustomer’s response above? If yes, how was it?

Here are some steps to try if the Nest camera isn’t turning on:

  1. If your camera is plugged into a power source, make sure that the power is switched on at the breaker box. If your home's power is switched on but there's no power, there might be a power outage. In this case, contact your local energy service provider.
  2. Plug your camera into a different power outlet and check if it turns on. If your camera works with the new outlet, you might have to move your camera or contact an electrician to fix the outlet.
  3. If power is on for your home but your camera doesn't seem to work in any outlet, the power cable might have an issue. Replace the cable and check whether your camera works.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Best,

Lance
