I'm having the same issue - I've just had a replacement sent by Google, it's wired to an AC adaptor providing 18V AC, it says it's "plugged in" but I don't get the infinity symbol and has discharged to the point that it doesn't stay on any more.

I've tested the AC adaptor and I'm definitely getting 18V AC to the 2 wires that go to the door bell. It doesn't seem to be charging.

Hey will_r,

I’m sorry you’re having trouble with this. No worries, we'll check this out. Have you tried plugging your doorbell to a different wall outlet to see if that helps? Also, try to remove the doorbell from its wall mount and disconnect the wires. Bring the device inside and let it warm up to room temperature in a warm, dry place. (Do not wrap it in a heated towel or place it near any heating elements.) Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,
Archie

Thanks for the reply - fairly generic suggestions but I'll humour you regardless as it helps hopefully get to a more targeted result.

  • Yes I've tried numerous sockets. All the sockets are functioning correctly.
  • I've brought it inside and charged it up with USB cable to make sure the battery can hold charge.
  • I live in a temperate climate it's also summer! However I used an infrared temperature thermometer and it's sat between 16-23c from what I've recorded so far.
  • I've tested the wires they are getting 18-24v - I've tried multiple voltage settings - they're all working correctly.
  • After charging it to 100% the infinity sign comes back on BUT it is still discharging, sometimes the infinity symbol turns off and it's advising that it's losing charge.

This is the second doorbell I've got. I've tuned the zones so that it's receiving minimal activation. We only get on average about 40-50 activities per day and they're all directly on our driveway and front door which is exactly what I want. It's not picking the street up or anything else.
