nest doorbell setup

I have tried setting up my Nest nest doorbell now for hours and I have been entirely unsuccessful at getting it to work. Every time I try to activate it, it just says “Connecting to Joining Device”, circles for minutes and then fails saying something went wrong. I have gone through all of the recommended steps to rectify the problem without success.

Hello, I can try and help.  So Google came up with the crazy way of teaching a google device the WIFI information when you are adding a 2nd, 3rd or 4th device.  Rather than just letting you choose the wifi network and adding the password it attempts to get it from another device already in your system.  This is typically another camera or a Nest Smoke detector.    So given that you want to be close (within about 5 or 10 feel) from the this 'connecting' device with both your new device AND your phone.  Once you do this it should work.   Note: If the connecting device is a smoke detector then once you get to the point where it is searching for the device you have to hit the button on the smoke detector JUST ONCE to wake it up and then it should connect and do it's thing

Let me know if this works.

Good luck.

Thanks for your suggestions.  Unfortunately they did not resolve the problem.  I have gone so far as to do a factory reset on the doorbell and still get the "something went wrong" message. I would appreciate any other ideas.

I think at this point your best option might be to open an official Support Ticket with Google which will let you speak with a google tech person.  Here is the link to get started...
