These are Google Nest's doorbell requirements:

Many customers, including us, have upgraded to a 16V 30VA transformer to get our Google Nest doorbells to work properly.

Note that the battery doorbell always runs off of battery power, and is trickle-charged by your doorbell transformer:

"If you’ve connected your Nest Doorbell (battery) to your existing doorbell wiring, the wires don’t directly power the doorbell. Instead, the battery is trickle charged by the power that comes through the wires, and the doorbell runs off the battery charge."
