I first reported this in June 2024 (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Home-google-com-falsely-reports-all-cam...). The problem still exists.
When visiting the beta "Public Preview" home.google.com website using the Firefox browser on a Mac, starting with macOS Sonoma 14.5 and STILL true with macOS Sequoia 15.5, all of our 1st gen and 2nd gen cameras and doorbells do not stream but instead falsely report as "Camera idle", but clicking "Live video" for each brings up the camera.
This does NOT happen with the home.nest.com website.
It also does not happen with Chrome or Safari browsers.

Hi @MplsCustomer,
Thanks for reaching out to the community. I understand you're seeing your cameras show as "idle" on home.google.com when you're using Firefox on your Mac. I'm glad to share more details with you.
If your camera runs on battery, it's normal for it to show as "idle." These cameras go into a low-power "rest" mode when there's no activity to save power. They'll start streaming automatically when they sense motion or when you click "Live video."
Let me know if you have any questions.
Regards,
Gabriela

None of our cameras and doorbells run in battery mode. ALL (1st and 2nd gen) falsely show initially as "Idle" in Firefox, bot NOT in Safari or Chrome. This does NOT happen on the home.nest.com website, only on the home.google.com website. This started in June 2024.

Hi @MplsCustomer,
Thank you for your reply. I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my post. I understand the "Idle" problem in Safari or Chrome, but it is not happening on the home.nest.com website. It's only occurring on the home.google.com website, and this started in June 2024. This distinction is very helpful.
We understand how frustrating this can be, and we want to make sure your experience is a good one. Please consider sharing your thoughts directly with our development team through this feedback form. Your form does not have an option for the home.google.com website. The problem does NOT apply to any of the listed choices.
I did submit feedback back in June 2024.
