Good day all ,
I changed my router and wifi credentials seeing that the cam  and doorbell were offline and unable to reconnect i deleted them all from the google home app. Now i am unable to get it to reconfigured. I did a factory reset still same problem. it goes to scan the qr code plug in the cam then the blue light slowly blink but the app keep searching for the network and then ask to retry again. My pixel 7 phone is actually on the only wifi configured. Can someone offer assistance please

I don't know if this will help, but this is Google Nest's troubleshooting Help topic:

If you read thru this forum you will see 100's of people talking about what a nightmare it is when changes Routers with Nest cams.   People have been complaining about it for 5+ years and yet Google does nothing to make it easier.   Shame on google!

I think if anyone found the solution you would see it here on the forum.    Sometimes no answer is the answer.

Hello @apilon61,

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand that you are unable to get your Nest Cam and Nest Doorbell to reconnect after changing your router and Wi-Fi credentials. I know that is frustrating when a device you rely on won't connect, especially after you've already taken the extra steps of deleting it from the app and performing a factory reset multiple times. I'd be happy to help you get this resolved.

I understand that during the setup process, the app seems to get stuck while searching for the network, even though your Pixel 7 phone is connected to the correct Wi-Fi.

To help me understand the issue better, could you please provide a few more details?

  • What is the brand and model of your new router?
  • Does your new router have a dual-band network (both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands)? If so, are they using separate network names (SSIDs)?
  • Have you checked your new router settings for any advanced features that might be enabled, such as a firewall, client isolation, or a VPN?

In the meantime, here are a couple of additional troubleshooting steps you can try, which often help with these types of setup issues:

  • Turn off mobile data on your Pixel 7: During the setup process, please temporarily turn off your phone's mobile data connection. This will ensure that your phone stays connected to the Wi-Fi network and does not accidentally switch to cellular data.
  • Reboot your new router: Unplug your router from its power source for about a minute, and then plug it back in.

Please let me know how it goes. We'll work together to find a solution.

Regards,

Kevin

Hi Thanks for helping out .

My new router is the Unifi Cloud Gateway Fiber that i received yesterday. Temporary i was on my ISP router which is a XB7. I will recongigure this new router with the exact same configuration and see if that helps. Both 2,5 and 5 GHz are not separated. I have a separate Vlan for the cameras, not isolated and the firewall rules is only to block inter Vlan . I will get back to you with the result

HI ok here all the step i did. Created a test wifi network on 2.4 GHz. did a factory rest of the cam, did not work. Repeated the same with 5 GHz same thing, it just won't connect. I have 4 wifi network tried on all of them same thing. Rebooted wifi ap and router same thing. I noticed that it always see the cam as a google mini so i need to select other device. I am starting to wonder if it is just not plain defective. I am open to suggestion if you have anything that i overlooked.

@apilon61

If you have 4 Wi-Fi networks, is the phone you are using for the install connected to just the Wi-Fi on which you are trying to install your camera?

I know some customers report Google Nest issues with having both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz on the same Wi-Fi, but we've had dual bands for years with no issues.

I don't know if having a separate VLAN for your cameras is an issue; I have no experience with VLANs.
