viewing 2nd generation Google Nest cameras on my computer - update for 2023?

We had to replace some cameras, but now I can't view them on my computer. We migrated to Google and all the old ones are there, just not the new ones. Has there been an update regarding this issue?

Hi @PrezAdmin

Try this link:home.google.com

Hope that helps you view all your cameras.

This is asking me to download Google Home on my computer, but says I don't have any devices. I didn't think you could download the Google Home app on the computer. It's possible?

You should be able to access that site via the Chrome browser.

  1. Go to home.google.com in a browser that supports WebRTC and Media Source Extensions (MSE).
  2. Sign into the Google Account that you use to control your cameras in the mobile app. (Internet Explorer doesn’t support Google Home for web). On iPhones and iPads, Google Home for web doesn't support cameras originally set up with the Nest app. So older cameras like the 1st gen Nest Cam may not appear.

The "preview" home.google.com website shows the live feed (only) for all of our cameras and doorbells, old and new, using Firefox.

My first generation cameras are on Google Nest, and I can use Nest Aware to record video for 30 days, on my computer. The new cameras will not show up. Having the live feed is fine, but not helpful when we need to go back and look at something. How can I get the new cameras on my account on my computer?

@PrezAdmin

Unless Google Nest surprises us all, we can use home.nest.com to fully control and get history on our older cameras and we can use home.google.com to livestream (only) all of our cameras.

Is there a way to contact Google Nest and let them know it's urgent that they work on this? What's the use of offering 30 days of recording if we can't access the cameras?

@PrezAdmin

On the home.google.com website, you can click on the "More Actions" icon (the 3 dots in the upper right corner) and select "Send feedback". I don't know what actually happens to such feedback.

In a Sept. 29, 2021 blog post, Google Nest Vice President Rishi Chandra promised:

  • "we are committed to bringing the experiences and Nest devices you have come to love in the Nest app into the Home app."
  • "we’ve also been working on rolling out a desktop experience for the Google Home app, so the new Nest cameras and doorbell feeds can be viewed and controlled from there. This will launch in 2022."

We bought a battery camera that same month and are still waiting.
