4K desktop on TV

Diegolum
Community Member

Hi, I have a 4K LG TV with Chromecast 4K and a 4K desktop on my PC but when I send the desktop via Chrome browser it appears in HD 1920 x 1080 on the TV it does not send a 4K image of the desktop.

Shouldn't the desktop also come through in 4K to the TV?

Thanks in advance

Diego

I don't believe chromecast supports 4k when using Chrome to cast a tab or desktop directly. ( when you do this you are rendering it on your computer than sending it directly across your network to the chromecast which has to process the video a 2nd time.   Vs. When you cast a video using a supported app/website like youtube/netflix the chromecast gets the video feed directly from internet and your computer phone is just the remote control).

This may be outdated but according to this 720p is the maximum from casting tab / desktop.
