Back arrow stops working using YouTubeTV w/Chromecast 4k

When using the YouTubeTV app via my Chromecast, the back arrow button (the one with the arrow on it) sometimes stops working.  I have to restart the Chromecast to get it to work again.  This is only in the YouTubetv app, the back arrow works if I exit the app back to the Chromecast main screen.  Anyone else have issues with this.

Hi MRW1,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. This is similar to this thread: Google Chromecast Remote Back Button Not Working, in which I advised the user to reach out to our friends in the YouTube Help Community. They may need to do some coding corrections or so. I also suggest you go directly to YouTube TV Help for immediate or live assistance from their support team.

I hope this answers your question. Let us know if you still have any.

Thanks,

Kimy

I had this issue I believe a couple months ago. What I did to fix the issue was, 1: Go to main menu, ~> setting, scroll down 👇🏿 that menu till you see (remotes & accessories 🎮) click on it, you'll see Chromecast remote, go to Chromecast remote and click on forget. It'll remove the remote connection on Chromecast TV and you will have to pair the remote again. After I did this the back button worked for me. I was thinking my remote was messed up but it wasn't. I think some times the back button sensor on the remote just stops getting the communication sensor from the button getting pressed and doesn't sense it so, it doesn't know you are pressing it when you actually are. That solves my problem some months ago if that doesn't work for you then I would be at a loss.

Hi Domu,

Thanks for joining this thread. Did you experience this in the YouTube TV app alone or with everything (all apps and even the Google TV interface and settings)? Because the original post was limited only to certain parts of YouTube TV, everything else works perfectly. This means it has something to do with the YouTube TV app. If your case is different and the back button issue that you experienced applied to everything, then this has something to do with the remote, which may need to be troubleshooted just like what you did.

But we appreciate you sharing helpful tips here. Let us know if you have other concerns.

Regards,

Kimy

Yes, this occurs only in the YouTube TV app on Chromecast.  I did also reach out to YouTube TV, but their support person was not helpful.

Hello MRW1,

Thanks for the reply. Since this is isolated to the YouTube TV app, it means your Chromecast device and its remote are working as intended, and this is most likely related to the app itself. I remember a similar post before, but it was stated that the back button function seems to act up within the recordings, and I’m wondering if this is the same with you. Another similar thread that I shared above has stopped responding, which may possibly have been resolved already. You can reach out to them with the links that I shared above. Some users' workaround is to cast the YouTube TV app instead. I hope this helps.

Let us know if you have other concerns with your Chromecast device.

Best,

Kimy
