Can't cast screen to google tv

I have an issue that I can't cast my android screen to my Sony Bravia TV with Google TV. It doesn't show up and I can't connect it to google home cause it's setup already.

Hi Morrisjanssen01,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. A few questions: is this a Sony Bravia with a built-in Google TV? Or a Sony Bravia TV with a Chromecast with Google TV device connected to it? Was it set up using a different phone? If it is, then you must’ve installed the Google Home app so you can screencast or mirror. I suggest you bypass the setup part of the Google Home app. Just ensure that both your phone and the Google TV (built-in or external device) are on the same network. Then you’ll be able to find it in the Google Home app to do screencasting or mirroring.

I look forward to your response.

Thanks,

Kimy

Hi, this is the Sony Bravia with built-in Google TV. It wasn't setup with a phone but with the remote so it isn't linked to a Google home. If I try to link it, it can't be found even though it is connected to the wired network. The tv is reachable from WiFi if I ping the IP. It just doesn't show up as a local device in the Google Home app. It also doesn't support Miracast with the cast function of Samsung.

Hi there,

Thanks for the details. Were you able to cast at least? Could you try to connect your TV via Wi-Fi instead? If it’s still not showing under local devices, connect your TV to your phone’s mobile hotspot. Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Kimy

I think there's an issue with the WiFi chip cause I can't seem to connect it to any WiFi networks

Hello Morrisjanssen01,

Thanks for sharing that. If there's a hardware failure, it’s best to contact Sony about the options (warranty replacement, service repair, etc.) they have for you.

Please let me know if you have other questions or concerns, as I will be locking this in 24 hours if I don't hear back from you again. Feel free to start a new thread, and we'll be happy to help.

Best,

Kimy
