Cast Moderator and Google Chrome browser on Windows OS

Dear All,

This is repeated post because I can't replied to the previous post

I managed to configure Google Chromecast with Google TV (4K) version for school usage by enabling Cast Moderator.

The device works perfectly when casting from Google Chromebook-managed devices that belong to the school.

When I try to cast from the Google Chrome browser on a Windows machine, I get the error message "the device can't be found.

I'm using the same wifi network on both devices (Chromecast and laptop).

All the settings are done on the admin console.

The same user tested on Chromebook is used in Windows machine with a signed-in profile (Google chrome profile).

1st Question: How to solve this issue?

2nd Question: Is it necessary to enrol the windows laptop into Google Workspace for Education to have the casting working?

I tried these steps:

  1. Ensure that the browser used is Google Chrome and that it’s up-to-date.
  2. Make sure your Windows laptop's operating system is compatible with the Chromecast.
  3. Check the antivirus of the computer. There are cases (mostly in Windows) wherein the Chromecast device fails to work after the antivirus finished an update. If this happens, call your antivirus provider.

I will try today to reset the Chromecast device and configure it again.

I get this replay from cast moderator team

Can you verify what is the value you have for the policy "Chrome management for signed-in users"? You'll need to update it to "Apply all user policies when users sign into Chrome, and provide a managed Chrome experience" in order to be able to cast from the Windows and MacOS laptops.

I have the same question. Is it necessary to have a managed chromebook to be able to cast to the Chromecast with Cast Moderator? If so, does it need to be managed in the same Gsuite as the Chromecast?

I tried disabling my firewall. I also checked there's no port isolation going on at the access point.
Yes, I also tried restarting the device. Also tried casting from different device (laptop, chromebook, smartphone). Also I can't cast from a Chromebook either.

I found that Google Chromecast with Google Home 4K version is not fully supported

In this article it is written

https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/11598277

Cast receivers are available now. Set up is ready on Chromecast HD, support for Chromecast 4K is coming soon. To receive support for Chromecast 4K sooner, send the serial number located on the back of the Chromecast dongle to #.

Yes, that's true. But I'm using the HD version, not the 4K.

It worked ( 4k version) on Chromebook,  Windows laptop ,  and Mac laptop

Did you have to change any other settings in your Google workspace?
I can't even find the chromecast(HD) on a Chromebook. Unless I set it up using the Google Home app.
Thanks in advance.
